Post processing and airbrushing
Post-processing of photography has become a part of everyday life. Every magazine cover on the shelf contains an image of a beautiful person, digitally enhanced in Adobe Photoshop. Their skin is smoothed (often far too obviously), their wrinkles removed, their saggy bits have been poked back into shape, and they'll often have had their legs lengthened and their body sculpted to perfection.
At Exesight Photography we have over fifteen years of combined experience in post-production work, allowing us to make your photographs look stunning, without the fake, plastic look that you may have seen before.
Our philosophy is that a photograph should be a true representation of how the human eye perceives the subject. The camera can be a particularly harsh critic - a photo doesn't move, and you can hold it right up to your eye and stare at it in a way that you simply don't do with a person. We ensure that the difference between perception and the unforgiving reality provided by professional photographic lenses is minimised, so that your pictures look fantastic without giving the appearance of being dishonest. Our aim is always that our changes cannot be detected by the naked eye without seeing the 'before' and 'after' images.
With that said, some people want to go all the way and take a few years off their age - and why not? If you'd like to really look the business and compete with cover-models, then we're happy to help you with that too.
Every single image that we print is carefully, sensitively post-processed to ensure that you will be delighted with the results. We offer two levels of post-processing. Our basic work is included as standard in our print prices, but more advanced work is available at a small additional cost.
To see some examples of our standard and advanced post-processing work, please hover your mouse over the images shown on the right-hand side of the page.
Standard Post-Processing
This is included as standard in all print prices, including canvas and other products (but excluding image DVDs unless specified). Each image is loaded into Adobe Photoshop, where we perform the following improvements:
- Cleaning up the backdrop
White backdrops will always be pure white, and grey backdrops will always have smooth light-to-dark graduations.
- Spot removal
Any obvious blemishes will be invisibly removed.
- Colour and contrast improvement
We ensure that all colours are accurate and that the image has the necessary punch!
- Sharpness
The image is finely tuned to ensure that it stands off the page and doesn't appear soft.
- Black and white / sepia conversion
If requested, the image can be converted to black and white, or sepia.
Advanced Post-Processing
This service is available at the low cost of £25 per image. There are excellent price reductions if you would like us to apply advanced post-processing to multiple images so please call (on 01392 201412) or email to discuss the options.
Everything in 'Standard Post-Processing' (see above) is included in this service, but we can also perform the following enhancements - and many more!
- Skin smoothing
Our techniques for smoothing skin are highly advanced. We can convincingly knock a good few years off your age without anyone being any the wiser! Our results are easily as good as any national magazine can carry off!
- Wrinkle reduction
We prefer to soften or fade wrinkles rather than remove them entirely, but this is entirely your choice. We can perform any level of reduction on crow's feet, laughter lines, frown lines, and any other kind of unwelcome wrinkles!
- Selective re-colouring
If you've got tan lines or areas of skin that you'd like us to recolour, then we can achieve this for you. We can also re-colour makeup, or your entire skin tone!
- Re-sculpting
Although it's a little naughty, we are happy to help you to improve your figure a little! We are routinely asked to make slight adjustments to busts or bottoms, to make them slightly more pert or slightly bigger/smaller as appropriate. We can do this invisibly without anybody knowing that the work was done.
- Fine detail changes
We go through the entire image at high magnification to ensure that everything is perfect. Our aim is to produce a picture that is essentially flawless.
- Artistic styles
We can generally replicate virtually any style for your image. This can be used to apply a strong 'fashion' feel to your image, or a softer, 'romantic' impression. The options are endless.
- Blending multiple photos
When it comes to shoots featuring more than one person, we are sometimes asked to use somebody's face from one picture, and their body from another! As long as this is done flawlessly, it can be an effective way of creating your ideal photo, especially if the photo involves dogs or children, who might not be very good at looking at the camera on demand!
