25th Annual Bangers Championship of the World

The ExeSight Motorsport Photography Team spent Sunday September 9th 2007 dodging twisted steel at the 25th Annual Bangers Championship of the World, Smeatharpe Stadium, Taunton. The event attracted a greater than usual number of good-natured spectators, who saw another lively show from over 50 competitors.

Jack Overy regained the Bangers Championship of the World title, which he last won in 2003. The day began with prizes for Best Presented Cars and Oldest/Rarest Cars. Dave Spooner, Rob Houghton, Nigel Forton and Adrian Clifton took the Smart Car awards, and the Unusual Car prizes went to Paul Smaldon - Datsun 280C, Paul Ashby and Steve Ashby in a pair of Granada Coupes and John Sparks with a MkI Triumph, which unfortunately failed to run.

There was also a great Allcomers race, complete with massive pile-up in the pits bend, BriSCA F2 Stock Cars, Ministox and the day was completed with a very hectic Demolition Derby. Needless to say the team managed to come away unscathed, using every inch of the centre of the oval to capture some great shots.
