Business portrait photography in Exeter

Last week we undertook a commercial photography portrait shoot for Event Cornwall, who specialise in event development and delivery. They needed some portraits taken outdoors, to take advantage of the beautiful weather!

We met the ladies of Event Cornwall at the ruins of the old Exe Bridge. As well as the ruins themselves, the area has some nice trees and greenery, making it a good spot for individual portraits and group shots.

Our first task was to get an individual portrait of each of the girls - we went for a natural, subtle shot taken with a telephoto lens.

We did two group shots, one in the ruins of the old chapel, and one with the out-of-focus ruins of the bridge in the background. We were aiming for a natural, unforced approach to the shots. The outdoor setting helps to create a relaxed and informal air.

Although most of our commercial portrait photography takes place in the studio, taking things outdoors can add a whole new dimension!

Professional lighting equipment is always required, even outdoors. In harsh sunlight, you end up with terrible dark shadows on faces without some serious lighting power! Here, Tash can be seen setting up one of our lights.
